REPORT | Toxic Exposé: Online Trade of Mercury-Containing Skin Whitening Cosmetics in the Philippines
Toxic Exposé: Online Trade of Mercury-Containing Skin Whitening Cosmetics in the Philippines, an investigative report by the EcoWaste
Coalition, bares the unethical and unlawful use of online shopping and social
media platforms to promote and sell chemical whiteners such as mercury-containing skin bleaching, lightening or whitening cosmetics. With this report, the EcoWaste Coalition
hopes to generate further awareness on the hazards of such mercury-added
cosmetics to human health and the environment, and encourage decisive action to
stop their manufacture, distribution, sale and consumption in line with the
Minamata Convention on Mercury.
