The EcoWaste Coalition supports the first ever
International Lead Poisoning Prevention Week of Action (Theme: “Eliminating
Lead in Paints”) on October 20-26, 2013 that seeks to: a) raise awareness about lead poisoning,
b) highlight efforts to prevent childhood lead poisoning, and c) urge
further action to eliminate lead paint.
The Week of Action is spearheaded by the Global Alliance to Eliminate Lead Paint (GAELP), which is jointly coordinated by the United Nations Environment Programme and the World Health Organization.
The EcoWaste Coalition, a contributing member of GAELP, is implementing in the Philippines the seven-country European Union-funded Asian Lead Paint Elimination Project in partnership with IPEN, a global network promoting safe chemicals policies and practices for a toxics-free future.
